Progtronica

This glitchy live session is nasty and incredible well performed by Nigel Sifantus. The music is called “Twillight 2010″ and is available as free download on his soundcloud account (see link in the bottom of this page). His debut EP “Live for no one” is also out now…

An Ableton live performance Dj’ing from behind the drums part 2: Trip_Hop Edition “Twilight of 2010″. Using the Novation Launchpad to trigger different parts of the song in real time while playing the drum part on modified Roland V-Drums. This song is dedicated to the trials tribulations and torment of 2010, and is inspired by the Cinematic Orchestra’s “As Stars Fall” as well as Squarepusher’s “Music Rotted One Note” album. This is Progtronica as the futuristic one-man drum ninja band. Here I’m using sidechain compression on the bass and ambient sounds separately against the live drums, which makes for an interesting sound.

Roland TR-505 – jas_justareview010

Recently bought this little machine for an outdoor project (it runs on batteries).
It’s plastic and very limited, but I like it and especially if you add some wah, distortion and delay. This video was made only to give you a glimpse of the Roland TR-505 in action and to give you some sort of impression on how it sounds. This is the pure sound of a Roland TR-505 (nothing added).

Live sequencing – Roland TR-505
Recorded using Lexicon Alpha
Camera1 – Canon IXY
Camera2 – Nokia E71

Bonus:
The distorted/delay drums are made live with the TR-505:
