Lets go back to school lets go back to the oldschool.
This relatively rare item has 5 midi channels, almost no CC commands (which means no tweaking) and is able to make some great noise! The sound is unique and hard to copy and please dont speak to me about software emulation this is the real deal. You get all the great noise from the chip itself and the output.
Beside the sound module you also get a visualizer which can be shown on TV. Showing some 8bit graphics in various colors depending on what you play.
The track consists of all 5 midi channels, played more or less randomly. Each track was programmed using Cubase and recorded with TC konnekt 8.
EQ, compression and limiter added in the final mix/mastering.
Please keep in mind that this track was entirely done for showing what sounds you can get from this evil 8 bit monster.
Novation has always been one of my darlings in the world of synthetic sounds.
This little synthesizer is much more than plastic box with sounds.
Its also a soundcard and midi controller and is great for travelling purposes or maybe in the low-budget home recording studio.
The video shows me playing live and running through some of the presets programmed by various top artists such as: Ferry Corsten, Jamiroquai and Roots Manuva.
Minor tweaking and pitching.
You need to like the sound of Novation and dont expect any analogish sound from this little beast.
Furthermore its not build like a 70s synth which means the knobs and the case itself is a bit too plastic for my taste.
But I was (still am) impressed. The soundcard is far better than M-audio, EMU 0202 and other low-budget recording gear. It only needs USB power to run and on top of that a 3 osc synthesizer with a decent sound.
Value for money.
EQ, compression and limiter added in the final mix/mastering.
(Some clipping might occur)

This little plastic box is awesome and evil!
I recorded the MFB 503 and without thinking about it I created a drumnbass inspired track.
All drums are un-compressed and live programmed. I wish I tweaked the beast (MFB 503) a little bit more to show what its capable of. This machine is so thick and rich in the sound Im impressed!
Samples are from CNN, CNBC, TMC and a bee (stuck in the window) pitched down.
Simple bass sound was created using Zebra (VSTi) and its nothing more than a little cutoff tweaking.
There are some minor panning errors and some volume adjustment on certain drum parts which could be much better.
Reverb, EQ, compression and limiter added in the final mix/mastering.
Please keep in mind that this track was entirely done for showing what the MFB-503 is capable of.
