Performed by Drexter & unkle:karma
The gear we used:
Roland SH-101, MFB-501, MFB Filterbox, Nintendo DSi, Line6 pocket POD, RNC1773, BOSS DSD-3, BOSS DD-6, BOSS SE-70, Korg KaossPad 2 & JoemMeek ThreeQ.
This little plastic box is awesome and evil!
I recorded the MFB 503 and without thinking about it I created a drumnbass inspired track.
All drums are un-compressed and live programmed. I wish I tweaked the beast (MFB 503) a little bit more to show what its capable of. This machine is so thick and rich in the sound Im impressed!
Samples are from CNN, CNBC, TMC and a bee (stuck in the window) pitched down.
Simple bass sound was created using Zebra (VSTi) and its nothing more than a little cutoff tweaking.
There are some minor panning errors and some volume adjustment on certain drum parts which could be much better.
Reverb, EQ, compression and limiter added in the final mix/mastering.
Please keep in mind that this track was entirely done for showing what the MFB-503 is capable of.
Drum machine is my middle name what is yours?
The MFB-502 is a little awesome thing which can be tweaked to some point, but nevertheless the sounds are great and there is stereo output along with individual outputs.
Tracked through FMR RNC1773 and TC konnekt8 using Cubase.
Reverb, EQ, compression and limiter added in the final mix/mastering.
Please keep in mind that this track was entirely done for showing what the MFB-502 is capable of.
This time we got our hands on MFB-KULT a small and kind of cute drum machine.
Perfect if you want to add some unique sound and its cheap (though its not being produced anymore).
Sounds from following drummachines and devices are available: Boss 55, Casio PT-68, Casio VL-1, CR-78, CR-8000, Drumtracks, Drumulator, El. Harmonix, Hohner, Korg DDD1, Korg-220, KPR-77, Linn 1, MFB-401, MFB-501, MFB-512, MFB-612, Pearl SC-40, Rhythm Ace, Simmons Clap, Simmons SDS, TR-606, TR-727, TR-808, TR-909 and Vermona.
The MFB-KULT was tracked through Korg Kaosspad2, FMR RNC1773 and recorded using TC konnekt8 in Cubase. The stereo perspective can be adjusted.
Jamming with the presets and very little tweaking added by Kaosspad2 to spice it up.
Live sound from camera added now and then
EQ, compression and limiter added in the final mix/mastering.
Please keep in mind that these tracks were entirely done for showing some what the MFB-KULT is capable of.
The Novation Bass Station was tracked through Joe Meek ThreeQ and Novation Drumstation tracked through RNC1773, recorded using TC konnekt8 and edited in Cubase.
These two machines are awesome! Why? Price, use and sound. Its fairly cheap, you get additional connections for your vintage equipment and if you just tweak it a bit differently
But then again I must admit that the dry sound didnt fall into my taste, so I added some external effects. Furtermore I added some pad sounds.
Part 1 - Cubase edit
Pad sound Dominator (PAD-Sculptoris-RJ)
Novation Drumstation Standard Reverb A from Cubase almost no wet sound. Some compression.
Novation Bass Station Stereo Delay (BPM sync), Reverb A (Default) and some compression.
Part 2 Cubase edit
Pad sound Dominator (KEY-ProSoloist-RJ)
Novation Drumstation Standard Reverb A from Cubase, dirty distortion. Some compression.
Novation Bass Station Stereo Delay (BPM sync), Reverb A (Default) and some compression.
Notice that all effectsn sounds are more or less templates/defaults. Thats on purpose you need little knowledge to add some kind of thickness to the sound.
Live clicks and sounds do occur occasionally the sound from the camera is present some times.
Video recorded with Panasonic NV-GS50
